Federal employee awarded compensatory damages. Employee of the Department of Homeland Security filed an EEO claiming non-sexual sex-based harassment (female) and reprisal.

After investigation, the complainant requested a hearing before an Administrative Judge with the EEOC.  The AJ awarded $200,0000 in non-pecuniary compensatory damages and $223,116.35 in pecuniary compensatory damages.  The AJ also awarded $131,262.59 in attorneys fees. The agency appealed both the compensatory damages award as well as the attorneys fee award. The EEOC’s OFO affirmed the compensatory damages an corrected a calculation error which resulted in an attorney fee award of: $121,150.
